Did you know that the PA Tourism & Lodging Association has a voluntary inspection program for unique lodging properties? It is our aim to see that visitors to Pennsylvania have an enjoyable lodging experience. Of primary importance are the cleanliness, guest comfort, breakfast appeal, guest safety, innkeeper professionalism and overall appearance of the inn. The inspection is not based on a subjective opinion of the host's décor or theme.
PTLA's inspection program is a quality review that is voluntary upon the part of the innkeeper. It is available to PTLA members as well as non-members. The inspection must be renewed every two years and is ideal for those properties that don't have (or would like to complement) other types of inspections such as AAA, Select Registry, or others.
The actual inspections are performed by independent agents hired by the PA Tourism & Lodging Association. This ensures that the inspection is not bias, as it could be if the inspection were performed by PTLA staff or other innkeepers. Incorporated in the inspection are adherence to local, county, & state laws, guest safety, industry participation, guest comfort, professionalism, and cleanliness. The cost of the inspection is $95, and an innkeeper can arrange to have their property inspected at any time that is convenient.
As mentioned before, the inspection is good for two years. Each property that passes the inspection receives a Keystone Certificate and a sheet of Keystone logos that can be used on printed materials to demonstrate the inn's commitment to quality.
