Minimum Wage Increase Effective July 1

Starting July 1, approximately 400,000 PA workers will see their minimum wage increase to $7.15 per hour. A law passed by the legislature and signed by Governor Rendell last summer mandated the increase for employers with more than 10 full-time workers.

The minimum wage rose to $6.25 on January 1 and will later increase to $7.25 in July 2009 to match the federal minimum wage.

Employers with fewer than 10 full-time workers will increase their minimum to $6.65. A 60-day youth training wage, which is at $5.15, will increase to $5.85 July 24 for employees under age 20.
