Lifeguard Mandate Legislation Introduced
Representative John Evans (R-Erie) introduced a proposal, House Bill 2062, which would require hotels, motels, inns, resorts and campgrounds to have lifeguards on duty at a swimming pool during hours open to guests and for private functions. The bill was referred to the House Tourism & Recreational Development Committee. Currently, Pennsylvania law does not require lodging establishments to provide lifeguards.
PTLA is opposed to House Bill 2062 and has communicated its opposition to the Committee chairmen. We will monitor the status of the bill and advise lodging members if the Committee decides to consider it.
