PTLA Announces 2010 Food & Beverage Conference

The PA Tourism & Lodging Association will host its fourth Annual Food & Beverage Conference on Tuesday, February 23, 2010, at the Penn Stater Conference Center Hotel in State College, PA.

The Conference will provide quality educational sessions and networking opportunities for all levels of culinary and food & beverage professionals. With the theme “Shift Your Focus,” the agenda will concentrate on new and innovative culinary ideas and practices that attendees have never considered before.

Two general sessions will feature a panel of hospitality student leaders discussing what they are looking for in today's workforce and a presentation on culinary survival strategies in today's economy.

In addition, six concurrent sessions will also be offered on timely topics:
  • Best Practices in Hotel Food & Beverage

  • Ice Cream and Gelato 101

  • Shaping the Future of Healthy Foods

  • How A Composting Process Works and Provides a
    Return on Investment

  • Beer vs Wine & Sustainable Tapas

  • Stress in the Hospitality Industry: Who and Why?

A Food/Trade Show will offer a variety of exhibitors who will showcase products and services for all aspects of the food & beverage industry. Admission is free.

The Conference will conclude with a Pennsylvania Palate Reception with ten chefs preparing delicious creations. Attendees will sample the food and vote on several 'best of” categories and determine the winners of the competition. Admission is included in the price of the conference registration.

A ServSafe Class ® Food Safety Certification and Recertification Course will be offered by the Pennsylvania Restaurant Association. This Course is a full one-day class including testing. The ServSafe Certification is required by the State of Pennsylvania for all establishments that provide prepared food to the public.
