| Innkeepers’ Rights Notices |
On October 30, 1996, Governor Tom Ridge signed into law the Pennsylvania Innkeepers’ Rights Act. Its purpose is to allow Innkeepers to deny (without liability) accommodations, facilities or privileges to persons who do not demonstrate the financial ability to pay for the accommodations and services, or for specific public health and safety reasons. An Innkeeper may eject immediately from the premises any person who violates the provisions of the Act, so long as a copy of the Act is posted at or near the guest registration desk.
The new law also provides that in the event a guest causes damages to an establishment, he may be ordered to pay restitution, including damages for loss of revenue resulting from the inability to rent the room during the period, and damages to persons injured in person or property.
The PTLA has made copies of the Pennsylvania Innkeepers’ Rights Act available. They have been designed in an inexpensive, easy-to-display “easel format” for posting in your registration area. |

| Innkeeper Non-Liability Cards |
These 4-7/8"x12-7/8" cards proclaim non-liability for valuables not placed in safes. They contain all the information required for PA hotels to post. No lodging facility should be without these notices in each guestroom--PA Laws states that they must be placed in "not less than ten conspicuous places."
